The source of unusual coronal upflows with photospheric abundance in a solar active region

چکیده
Context. Upflows in the corona are of importance, as they may contribute to solar wind. There has been considerable interest upflows from active regions (ARs). The coronal that seen at edges have elemental composition and can slow sources challenging determine because be multiple, spatial resolution previous observations is not yet high enough. Aims. In this article, we analyse AR 12960 unusually close sunspot umbra. We their properties, attempt if it possible feed into Methods. analysed activity upflow region detail using a combination Solar Orbiter EUV images temporal resolution, Hinode/EUV Imaging Spectrometer data, instruments on board Dynamics Observatory. This combined dataset was acquired during first perihelion science phase, which provided 356 km for two pixels. Doppler velocity, density, plasma determinations, well magnetic field modelling, were carried out understand source upflows. Results. observed small fragments, called moving features (MMFs), away region. Specifically, moved towards edge penumbra where positive polarity connects umbra via small-scale very dynamic loops. At location, dark grains evident flow along penumbral filaments continuum images. modelling showed low-lying loops anchored umbral field. high-resolution data Imagers dynamics these loops, last time scales only minutes. location photospheric abundance.

15 صفحه اولThe solar abundance of iron and the photospheric model
Numerous papers on the solar photospheric abundance of iron have recently been published leading to a longstanding debate concerning rather different results obtained from the analyses of Fe i lines and, to a lesser extent, of Fe ii lines. Based on a set of 65 solar Fe i lines, with accurate transition probabilities as well as new accurate damping constants, we construct a new empirical photosp...

Resonance scattering has often been invoked to explain the disagreement between the observed and predicted line ratios of Fe XVII λ15.01 to Fe XVII λ15.26 (the “3C/3D” ratio). In this process photons of λ15.01, with its much higher oscillator strength, are preferentially scattered out of the line of sight, thus reducing the observed line ratio. Recent laboratory measurements, however, have foun...
متن کاملThe Ar / Ca relative abundance in solar coronal plasma
The relative abundances of elements with low and high first ionisation potentials (FIP) is a subject of much recent debate. In situ measurements of the solar wind reveal a clear pattern of low FIP enhancement that has been followed up with various spectroscopic measurements of the solar corona. Argon is unique amongst the more abundant high FIP elements in retaining several of its electrons at ...
